The Perfect Lego-type Display Kit for Partners to Share

This Lego flowers set creates a lovely romantic scene with two little figures under the sakura cherry tree. It makes not only a great shared build to assemble with your partner but also the perfect gift for him or her!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to our blog. It's Victor from the Nifeliz team here. Nifeliz's sets are not Lego but compatible.

Love is eternal and love is great, so it's so great to find the one. It is the beginning of everything. And today we're going to be checking out this romantic display piece. First things first, we're going to learn about its details.

— Set details —

This set is called the Nifeliz Sakura Tree Plant Decor Building Kit. It consists of 747 pieces and came out in 2022. As I just mentioned, this one depicts a beautiful romantic scene. On the box, this says it's recommended for ages 16 and up and as you can see, it is absolutely gorgeous. So let's not wait around. I'm just going to open it up and show you guys what's inside.

Here's everything that came inside the box. We've got 10 bags of pieces and a 30-page instruction booklet. While I don't expect unboxing this Lego flowers set to be significantly different than any other Nifeliz set, I do think it is interesting to see how the parts are packaged in this particular one. The bags of blocks are not sorted as per the instruction steps. Instead, all the pieces are sorted into categories according to shape and size, so it should be pretty easy to start the build. As you can see, you have these bags that are just completely full of essentially the same or similar parts. Usually you don't see that in most regular Nifeliz or Lego sets.

And you literally get an extra set of hand gestures for two little figures. I think these are some very common ones. We have “thumbs up”, “snap, snap”, “call me”, “OK” or “nice work” and “devil’s horns” also known as “rock on”. And then, we have this one which is a very rude one. This means “up yours”. So be careful. We also have “shoot me now”, “I’ll get you”, “peace sign” and “don't shoot” or “relax”. These are your extra pieces and miscellaneous small pieces. That means you don't have to use them if you don't want to, but they are so fun and unusual. There are no other Nifeliz or Lego sets where you get some extra hand gestures like this one. So that's a pretty good reason to buy this.

— Assembly —

In terms of assembling the set, it took me only about three hours to make, but it was kind of challenging. And you know me - I like a challenge. So to start this off, I constructed the platform for two little figures. Then, I put together the base of the tree trunk. As soon as this was done, I built a wall that surrounded this area. After that, I assembled the trunk, but when I was at step 12, I suppose one of the Technic axles was too thick, so it was only with great difficulty that I was able to fit it into the axle and pin connector.

Once I had the trunk set up, I continued to build the wall which I fit four window frames in. And the idea is that the window frame is just an opening in the wall that enables you to attach a branch to the trunk through it. There is a little bit of repetition as you build the same Lego flowers. However, this is not the case with the branches for these pieces come in several different sizes and shapes. Although building the set presented a bit of a challenge to me, as I finally saw this cherry tree in bloom, with the pink and white Lego flowers sprouting and the branches protruding out the tall windows of the wall, I felt a sense of achievement.

— About sakura —

Sakura is the Japanese term for cherry blossom – that most beautiful of Japanese flowers. In particular, the prunus serrulata, or Japanese cherry, is native to Japan as well as Korea and China. In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolize clouds due to their nature of blooming en masse, besides being an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life, an aspect of Japanese cultural tradition that is often associated with Shinto influence, and which is embodied in the concept of mono no aware.

The association of the cherry blossom with mono no aware dates back to 18th-century scholar Motoori Norinaga. The transience of the blossoms, the exquisite beauty, and volatility, has often been associated with mortality and graceful and readily acceptance of destiny and karma; for this reason, cherry blossoms are richly symbolic and have been utilized often in Japanese art, manga, anime, and film, as well as at musical performances for ambient effect. There is at least one popular folk song, originally meant for the shakuhachi (bamboo flute), titled "Sakura", and several pop songs. The flower is also represented in all manner of consumer goods in Japan, including kimono, stationery, and dishware.

— Features —

Again, the actual Nifeliz system was utilized for this set, you know, actually building universal ones to make more realistic scenes. Therefore, the Nifeliz Sakura Tree Plant Decor Building Kit is a perfect mix of reality and fantasy. From 10 feet away, the Nifeliz sakura tree almost looks real. The structure of the branches is artfully done. There is a beautiful arrangement of pink cherry blossoms and green leaves on the branches. The colors are really nice on this build.

But real life is not a romantic fairy tale and so Nifeliz created this fantastic scene, especially with two little figures beneath the tree that has a feeling of intimacy and romance. This set does not tell us what happens to the little figures. We have to use our imagination. Here's Vivian and Sam. And they grow up in high school together, and they have a wonderful relationship. But on graduation, Vivian moves to Greece with her family. Over the years, they both believe that there is someone out there, that is just 100% compatible with them. They date other people, but they can't find the one. They're just like two empty vessels floating through the sea. They don't have that anchor to hold them to anything until they accidentally meet again in Japan where they finally confess that they are still in love with each other under the sakura cherry tree. Actually they don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along.

And now, without further ado, let's dive into all of the features of this set.

Here we go then. First of all, looking at the wall, I find it really elegant. It actually encloses the trunk and forms a hollow structure. The structure is kind of a simple shape, but it looks very nice with a lot of “studs not on top” construction. It doesn't need a tremendous amount of detail. Just these little bits of gold elements on the top of it are nice.

Second of all, I appreciate the fact that it has four tall windows, so the wonderful branches along with the Lego flowers are able to protrude out those windows easily. In my opinion, it's interesting they used the tall train window frames with 2 open studs and 2 solid studs for these.

And then, inside the hollow structure that is enclosed by the wall, you can see the black base of the tree. There are two large holes in it where the trunk should be. It looks very realistic.

Additionally, all of these branches as well as the trunk are essentially built using some Technic components, Technic pins and axles. It is simply incredible how this was designed here using a lot of Technic elements.

You'll see that the trunk is composed of two axle connectors, two axles, two perpendicular axle and pin connectors with center pin holes and two axle connectors. So basically the trunk is made of two parallel parts.

Likewise, what you will notice as well is that we've got two main branches. You can see there's one branching off to the front there and then, the other going all the way up. And they actually branch out into a few more branches as well.

Now these branches are at unique angles. As for the main branches, they used axle and pin connectors at several different angles, so they seem to go in different directions.

In addition to that, the long thin branches growing from the main branches are really nicely done with a combination of two little bars, a bar holder with a clip and a bar holder with a handle. They're supposed to look like leaders. And you can actually position them on the main branches in different positions.

They also created these authentic-looking sakura Lego flowers growing out from the side of a branch. We have these stems which hold six Lego flower heads. This is some great part usage, right? This is actually is made out of two flower stems with bottom pins, each of which hold three flower heads. In some spots, they have a selection of four pink flowers and two white ones whereas in others, there are three white ones with pink crown elements on the base of the flower and two white ones without them.

Lastly, I think the Nifeliz version of the cherry blossom looks way better than that of the Lego Bonsai Tree 10281 Building Kit. The Lego cherry blossom version of it doesn't make sense in that kind of feel. I am not a fan of the pink frogs that are used as cherry blossoms. I like to have more actual flower petals and I love these pink crown elements on the base of the Lego flower. They appear natural. It's the most crowns that have ever been included in a single set by far. You literally get a bag of pink crowns in this set.

— Two fun little figures —

And of course, in addition to the sakura tree, two little figures are also included. They're identical and they do have a simple look to me, but they are fun and interesting builds.

Now they do not use any print because they don't need it. I believe they're imagination food, which brings me to one of my favorite quotes that I've ever heard by Helen Keller: “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.”

The nice thing is they're very posable for there are all sorts of different points of articulation with the heads, the necks, the torsos the arms, the legs, and the knees. They essentially articulate in every point imaginable.

The heads are able to go up and down and turn from side to side. You can also twist their heads around. The positions of the joints for them are so perfect that they look alive.

The joints there in the centers of the torsos make it possible for you to bend them forward and down so that they seem to bow.

The arms and legs are on ball joints, so you can rotate them round if you want. You can make them go up and down as well. You can demonstrate them in walking and sitting poses pretty easily.

In fact, there are various possibilities. For example, you could have them be standing on their heads, or have them kneel down on one knee.

Also, their feet have got the bottom tubes here, so you can connect them to studs and position them on top of your Nifeliz or Lego architecture sets, if you choose to.

Beside the wall, there's the platform on which these two little figures stand under the tree. It's a very simple construction with various tiles, plates and some 1 x 1 bricks. You can see we have some more of those SNOT bricks on the side here. The design is pleasingly simple and consistent with the wall nearby.

Both the wall and the platform do hook on via the same 2 x 12 plate here, but the tree along with the wall is far heavier than the platform. As a result, the platform leans slightly. I figured I could put some small but heavy things especially coins into it to counteract the lean because this platform is completely hollow. As I hadn't got any coins, I used some screwdriver bits instead. It worked perfectly fine with them as well.

We've got these clip pieces for their hands. As we know, there are actually 10 alternate hand gestures for them. And then, you just replace them with one of these fun hand gestures. It's very easy to do. You're not going have any real problems with it.

Overall, these are pretty cool little figures. They are pretty solid and you're able to get many different poses out of them, which is a lot of fun.

— Summary —

All in all, the Nifeliz Sakura Tree Plant Decor Building Kit is definitely the perfect Lego-type display kit for partners to share. As for the design, the white wall along with little bits of gold elements on the top of it complements the Nifeliz realistic-looking sakura tree perfectly. The design of them is actually pleasing to the eye for they are both simple and elegant. And then, the branches that protrude far out just bring so much life to any scene. It's so vibrant. Besides, the blossoms feature a slew of natural-looking crown elements, as opposed to those weird pink frogs used as blossoms in the Lego Bonsai Tree set. So the Nifeliz exquisite blossoms can also add a splash of colour to your partner's home.
